I got lectured.

Ever since I was very young I was in good physical shape. I was involved in sports, cheerleading, gymnastics and other stuff so I could eat what I wanted and still stay fit. I grew to love sweet snacks and I still crave them almost daily.

I was grocery shopping the other day and filling my car with the proper fruits, veggies, lean proteins and other good stuff for me and baby. Then I got to the freezer section. And I saw them. There was a beam of light coming from the box and they were calling my name...

I just HAD to get them. They practically jumped into my cart so I couldn't bring myself to put them back.

And I had two for breakfast yesterday morning. My mouth watered as I smelled them in the toaster oven. And with my heightened sense of smell (nice PG side effect) I could barely contain myself as they toasted. Then the toaster dinged and the best part was about to come...the icing. These little packets of yummy sweetness are worth their weight in gold. I sqeeze every last drop of icing out of the pouch in a decorative swirl on the pastry.

I sit down with my glass of OJ and savor every bite. It's like I have a little O with each mouthful. And they are gone too soon. But, I know I have more in the freezer and I look forward to the next morning when I can experience that little bit of heaven all over again. Sigh. I love Toaster Strudels.

Fast forward to dinner last night...I was telling Ed about my glorious breakfast and he looked at me in sheer horror. What did I say? What was so wrong? Did I have something on my face? He was just staring at me.

"What??"

And then it started. I haven't been lectured like that since I was a child. He was going on about how I can't eat that stuff now that I'm growing a little nugget we worked so hard to get. He went on and on....and on....and on....

Oh the guilt. I will now be craving my wonderful strawberry pastry treat for the next 8 months.

Okay, now I want a toaster strudel.

And toaster strudels are not harmful to your little one. They may not be super-nutritious, but it sounds like you're eating healthy otherwise (and therefore not depriving the nugget of proper nutrients). I say that when Ed is pregnant, he can decide what pregnant people eat, and until then, eat a balanced diet, including toaster strudels, until the doctor tells you otherwise. Just my $0.02.

I think the little pixie likes toaster strudels and you can't deny your little bundle of precious cells it's true desire :) And if I hadn't already had breakfast, I would want one and I'm not even a big toaster strudel fan.

I think you two are both right. I'm going to tell Ed what's up :D

Tell Ed one little strudel now and then will not hurt that little nugget. Like every one said as long as you are eating healthy a little sweet treat once in a while is good. It could be worse. Lighten up Ed.

AHH! I think after all the work it took you to get pregnant that you should be able to eat whatever that baby craves! So i say eat those toaster studdles (sooo want one now) and be merry!

Oh my... you are making my stomach rumble!

If it makes you feel any better, I made a pan of rice krispie treats last night and ate half... I plan to eat the other half of the pan tonight. :)

If the little one wants a toaster strudel now and then, how can you possibly deny him/her? ;)

Everything in moderation, Maria, including moderation.

I'd like to kick Ed in the shin. How dare he deny his pregnant wife and baby their toaster strudel?

The nerve!

Don't tell him about DQ!

Oh, that's so cute. It kind of stinks for you (those things are SO good) but how cute that your DH is concerned. I really don't think it's a big deal though- there are so many WORSE things you could eat.

I don't think that a little toaster strudel won't hurt your little one.

If you want a sweet snack that is good for baby. Target has these bars called Belly Bars. One is fruit and the other is chocolate. They are slices of heaven and your DH can't get mad because they are FULL of good stuff for the baby. I love them, try one.

My hubby gives me this lecture all the time and I'm not even pregnant! :)

I agree with the first poster; toaster strudels are perfectly fine AND Ed should not be telling you what to eat. I think that when men feel out of control about things, they try to micromanage. I HATE it when my husband tries to micromanage what I eat. Grrrrr.

Tell Ed that he should be happy you're able to eat and that you'd hate to become a closer eater because of him. Toaster strudels = fruits & breads. ;)

sounds yummy though!

Try not to feel too guilty for a little toaster streudel mishap, after all, the baby made you do it! Good luck!

Just visiting from NCLM . . .

Stopping by from NCLM. Congratulations on your pregnancy!!! Feeling guilty is probably not much better for you than occasionally eating sugar, so I say go ahead and eat what you like!

Lol! I used to buy them for the kids and give them the strudel with only half of the icing! That is the best part! lol
