Closing the floodgates :(

A couple of weeks ago I posted about the possibility of me not being able to breastfeed due to breast milk jaundice with EJ. Well, he turned yellow again and his bilirubin numbers are back up :( So that means no more breast milk for him and we have to transition him back to formula. I'm very disappointed, but at least it's nothing major and very easily correctable.

I have a ton of frozen milk and I'm trying to find out how to go about donating it. If anyone knows how to do it, please let me know. I hear there is a place in Ohio but I first must have blood work done (which they pay for) before they'll accept it. I'm sure they'll check my blood type and test for any communicable diseases.

Other than that, things are great. EJ's growing like a weed and I see more smiles every day. We have just moved him into the next size clothing. He's been in Newborn and he's now fitting into 0-3 months. It's kinda sad to think of him getting bigger but also very exciting.

I am sorry about BFing :( You are doing a great thing by donating it though.

Maria, EJ's picture took my breath away. Those dimples and that smile, he is so beautiful. What a joy to wake up to everyday.

I know that must be disappointing for you, but I hope you know that it's not your fault. Thankfully, EJ still gets to eat. :)

Do you have a local "LaLeche" group? They might know how to get your milk donated.

He's beautiful...and yes, they grow so fast...really fast! My little guy was 5 lbs 9 oz when I brought him home from the hospital...today (nearly 5 months later) he's close to 20 pounds and nearly 30"

Hey girl. Riley has breastfeeding jaundice too but my Dr isn't making me stop BFing at all. He said that sometimes it just takes babies longer to get rid of the bilierubin. (((HUGS))) If you do have to give it up I hope you find a place to donate to.

sorry about not being able to nurse, I can imagine thats a disappointment, but know that all your baby wants is to be loved and cuddled while you feed him. And now you dont have to lift your shirt up in public! That does get old after a while : ) (esp. in the breeze : )
